I arrived at Loseley Park in Surrey with a spring in my step. A new venue and a marquee wedding - two of my favourite things rolled into one. The day kicked off early, despite it being late June. I found Catriona getting ready with her bridesmaids and family in one of Loseley's buildings. The atmosphere was electric, everyone buzzing for the day ahead.
Catriona's dress was a showstopper - designed by one of her talented bridesmaids. It fit her like a glove, the kind of one-off piece that just screams ‘stylish bride'. Meanwhile, Chris was down at the local pub with his groomsmen, stealing his nerves with a pint before heading to the church.
Speaking of which, the ceremony was held in this quaint little place, brimming with character. It had that perfect mix of intimacy and charm that really gets everyone in the mood for a wedding. And then Catriona arrived - talk about making an entrance! Her dad's vintage car added a touch of old-school glamour to the proceedings.
I've shot more weddings than I can count, but there's still something about ceremonies that gets me every time. Seeing a room full of people, all there for the couple, focusing on this massive moment in their lives - it never gets old.
After, the newlyweds left in a cloud of confetti. One of my favourite shots from the day was of them driving off, arm and bouquet hanging out the window of that vintage car, their guests waving them off. Classic stuff.
Back at Loseley Park, the marquee was set up on the lawn of Loseley House. This 16th-century grand house made for one hell of a backdrop. As everyone meandered through the gardens, drinks in hand, the couple made their rounds, greeting and chatting.
The venue was a photographer's playground. I reckon I could shoot a hundred weddings there and still find new spots for portraits. We got some lovely shots before it was time to head into the marquee for dinner and speeches.
Catriona and Chris made quite the entrance - the roof nearly came off with all the cheering. It's moments like these that will stick with the couple long after the cake's been cut and the last dance.
Now, here's where things got interesting. The couple wanted some flare photos with the bridal party. Picture this: Loseley House in the background, everyone with their hands in the air, and colourful smoke filling the night sky. Sounds great, right? Well, it was, until the best man and one of the bridesmaids got a bit too close to the action. They ended up with faces full of colourful dye on their face, but the resulting laughter made for even better photos than we'd planned.
Inside, the band kicked things off. The first dance was a sight to behold, complete with a shower of shimmering confetti. Before long, everyone piled onto the dance floor to join in. As the sky outside turned from orange to deep blue, the music kept pumping into the summer night.
I hope you love Catriona & Chris’ sheer brilliant marquee wedding at Loseley Park in Surrey!
