I hope everyone is doing alright and staying safe during the lockdown? It's definitely a strange time for weddings but thought it would be a perfect time to start sharing more weddings on the website. Today I have an absolute beaut for you. Caitlin & Stuart had an Anran wedding at Tidwell Farm in Landscove, South Devon and is definitely now one of my favourite wedding venues!
I always enjoy the drive from Dorset to Devon, the scenery is sensational, and I love how you get to see some of the coastlines along the route. The couple opted for a spring wedding and luckily got one of those beautiful days where life is starting to appear after a long cold winter. Birds are all singing their first chorus's and snowdrops are starting to signal the new season. At Anran Caitlin & Stuart's friends and family are beginning to help set up for the day ahead.
Spring has arrived.
After talking with Caitlin before the wedding, I knew she & Stu had a clear idea of how she wanted the wedding to go. Firstly they really wanted an outdoor ceremony on the lawn of the front of the farmhouse. Without some hard work, it would have looked pretty standard, but I love how everyone came together to create something magical. Rows of blankets covered hay bays for seating, a long aisle from the front door of the house all leading to a wooden structure with sheets draped over for the couple to exchange vows. Beautiful.
To accompany this elegant backdrop, the couple opted for a celebrant to officiate a humanist ceremony. A perfect choice for this relaxed setting with all their family and friends enjoying the spring sun as a select few took it in turns to stand for readings and the couple exchanged vows.
"We had a humanist ceremony. Neither of us are religious. We wanted to be married by a woman and our wonderful celebrant, Carol Smith, designed a bespoke service for us. We wanted it to reflect the values of equality. We looked at lots of different vows and then drew all our favourite elements together. One of my favourite lines was that we promised 'to encourage fulfilment as an individual throughout all the changes of our lives'." Caitlin
After a few post-ceremony photographs of the couple and the wedding party, it was time for everyone to head to one of the most fascinating places at Anran. The simply gorgeous glasshouse, a converted barn with a glass ceiling, exotic plants & buddha statue that oozes character for a wedding breakfast. One happy photographer.
The day turned to night it was time for everyone to get those dancing shoes on for the party in a chandelier adorned Nissen hut. It's another photographic space and a perfect choice for Caitlin & Stuart to start their first dance to Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm on fire'. The band taking over to get everyone moving for the rest of the night.
Well, I hope you love this Anran Devon wedding as much as I did documenting it. If you like this one then definitely check out Becky & Jack's North Cadbury Court wedding or Aisling & Ciaran's beautiful Le Manoir Du Bout Du Pont wedding in South-West France.
